Werner Schmidt – Unbewussten

Metaphysix Interface is a music label based in Germany which gathers artists preferring untypical approach to electronic music. They have just published a representative compilation called Metaphysix Laboratory Volume 1 on which extremely interesting track called Unbewussten can be found. Its even better version, however, was included in the EP Lass Mich Mit Tranen.

The song has been created by Werner Schmidt, a 45-year-old sound engineer from Karlsruhe, and consists of catchy minimal beat and spoken-word verses. This sound will get really deep into your heads and stay there for a long time…

Yöri – Capsule EP

When Icelandic female vocalists try to mix their unusual voices with electronic music, the comparisons to legendary Björk are really hard to omit. However, if any of this should make sense, there needs to be a properly good music behind it.

And this is exactly what happens in the case of Yöri, new sensation originally coming from Iceland but now based in LA. Her debut EP called Capsule has been just released and it is an excellent collection of really lovely tracks.

Atom™ – HD

When writing about Uwe Schmidt, I am totally overwhelmed by his biography – he started his career back in the ’80s and the ’90s has seen him releasing his first albums, playing notable gigs all over the world (inlcuding Love Parade or Sonar) and… introducing a new genre – electrolatino. At the beginning of the 21st century he was still very productive as he performed under many different monikers, published dozens of LPs and remixed for significant artists like Depeche Mode, Air or Cesaria Evora.

It is 2013 now but Schmidt has not changed. He is still out there doing his best. Using Atom™ as his name, he has just dropped a brand new album – HD. The music on it does not sound like something you may be used to but after some time you will find out that it is simply genial.

Yes, it is Jamie Lidell featured on the track presented above.

Emika – Wicked Game

Emika, the queen of subtle and dark electronic music, is back for good! Although she does not belong to the group of artists who rarely publish new tracks, we are really thrilled to know that her second album will be released on the 10th of June.

And yes, there is a single. A beautiful one. Wicked Game, a cover of Chris Isaak’s greatest hit, will win over your hearts.

You can get Wicked Game for free and pre-order the album here.

Presenting: The Deer Tracks

I think we can all agree that there is something about Scandinavian electronic music that makes it very special. We do not have to dig deep into our minds to find obvious examples like The Knife, Röyksopp or Little Dragon. Fortunately, the list is not short. And it includes The Deer Tracks.

The Deer Tracks is a Swedish duo consisting of two multi-instrumentalists – David Lehnberg and Elin Lindfors. Aurora, their first release, dates back to 2008. Now they are focused on The Archer Trilogy. Its first part has been released in 2010 as a five-track EP, second part in 2011 as a full-length album. Third part will probably come out very soon so you still have a chance to get ready for it.
