Hubert Clarke Jr – Heart/Mind EP

Heart/Mind is a brand new release from Sydney-based producer Hubert Clarke Jr who continues his journey through unexpected beats after last year’s EP called Filtered Juice. This time we can enjoy ourselves with the mixture of so many different styles that a blend they create together is hard to categorize. But who would care about the labels? Just press the play button and get ready for the sounds varying from jungle taste of the opening track to the 8-bit accents in Grow.

Golden Features – Golden Features EP

No one knows who exactly Golden Features is but once the self-titled debut EP from this Australian project has been published few days ago it is impossible to forget this name. The absolute highlight of the release is an opening track called Tell Me which kicks off with a rather delicate house beat accompanied by a female vocal (Pnau’s Embrace, anyone?) but then a heavy drop comes out of nowhere and you immediately get hooked on Golden Features’ style. All the other songs on the EP also bring a decent sound so the thing that you should do right now is head to GF’s facebook page and get it for free. And just one more fact for you: the aforementioned vocal on Tell Me belongs to none other than Nicole Millar, a girl who we featured in our Australian New Pop mini-series (very mini, to be honest).

Kit Pop – Move

Kit Pop is a self-taught producer from Perth whose ambition does not let him rest without doing something productive beforehand. He started his adventure with creating music over a decade ago and since then not only has he released a bunch of decent tracks and played some festivals but also founded Paper Chain label to help fellow talents from the local electronic music scene.

Just today Kit Pop has dropped a new EP called Rose Star. The release includes this amazing song Move which explores the party potential of Basement Jaxx’s hit Do Your Thing.

Australian New Pop #2: Banoffee & Nicole Millar

Yeah, we are still looking for someone who can become the new Australian pop star and we have two fresh candidates. This time the sound is probably more alternative and concentrated rather on chill and downtempo beats but the music is equally interesting and the vocals are again very intriguing.

Let us start with a Melbourne-based Martha Brown who plays in the bands Otouto and Dreaming & Delicious but for her solo project uses a name Banoffee. Her debut track is called Ninja and it is a cute and peaceful song presenting Martha’s sweet voice and a relaxing synth beat. More music from this talented girl will be most likely released in the next few months.

The second artist comes from the other Australian metropolis – Sydney – and her name is Nicole Millar. She has published her second ever song Fall just this week but her amazing voice could be already heard before on the releases from Sun Glitters or Cosmo’s Midnight. The new track is actually also the effect of collaboration as it has been produced by the British duo Crvvcks.

And just a short info connected to the first entry in this thread. Bossy Love’s debut EP has been finally released! Get it here.

Australian New Pop: Fingertips & Bossy Love

Australian pop scene is probably getting a bit tired of Kylie Minogue being the brightest star but there are two young rising artists who can replace the diva with the fresh and modern sound worth the second decade of the 21st century.

The first one is Fingertips (stylized F!NGERT!P$) whose real name is Claire Knight and who has successfully started her career as a DJ which gave her the opportunity to share the stage with Vampire Weekend, Mystery Jets or Ladyhawke and also… tour the world with Rihanna! She also qualified to the final of the global EMI’s contest She Can DJ and performed at the stages all around the world, including prestigious sets in London, Tokyo and Paris.

Claire chose to spent her last summer in New York where she prepared and recorded the debut EP called NYC with Dan Walker of The Death Set. So far only one song – Strung Out – has been published but this is the kind of track that will easily get you hooked on. The vocal, the beat – everything is perfect.

The second girl is Amandah Wilkinson who performs under the name Bossy Love. She used to be a part of the band Operator Please but now concentrates on her solo project. Her sound is rather different than Claire Knight’s but there is one similarity – Amandah has also her debut EP ready and has already made available one song too. It is called Wind Me Up and will be featured on Me + You which is planned to be released on the 21st of October.

Will they make it to the top? Both artists have huge potential so everything’s in their hands. We will keep our fingers crossed!
