Takahiro Uchibori adopted a name Metome and stormed into the underground Tokyo music scene few years ago but he is far away from being just another Japanese talent. Although he is now a pure electronic music artist, he has a jazzy/funky background which gives his sound an interesting flavour. What is more, Metome’s style is characterized by playing with vocal snippets and this is exactly what can be heard in Bshop’s Ring Sun, a fresh single which is an omen of a new album coming. With its voice samples and cool build in the second half of the song, the track reminds me a bit of the old tracks from James Blake’s pre-debut EPs but I would not dare to compare this two as there is no place for melancholy in Metome’s music. Instead of that, his sound is full of joy and happiness. And good music, obviously.
